Building and testing Hardware.

Last days I build and test the hardware of my converter device. I connect a Arduino-Nano to a 2*16 karakter display by a I2C bus. Also connect this I2C bus to the Philips TV-Tuner. Around this TV-Tuner I mount 2 capacitor’s between the 5Volt powersupply and the GND. A press/turn-encoder also wired to the the Arduino-Nano. Later I shall make a scheme of the circuit.

Next step is testing the hardware. therefor I wrote a very small program in Bascom-AVR for the Arduino-Nano. In this program I scan on the I2C bus to see if there are some I2C-divice present at the I2C-bus.

The result of this scan is het next screen.


This is fantastic. Because the adres &H7E is the adres of the LCD and the adres &HC0 is the adres of the Philips FL1216MK2 TV-Tuner. Next test-program I wrote was to test the press/turn-encoder also result’s to a good anwser from theArduino-Nano so I can say that my hardware on this moment is working as I aspect.

Next point is put some tekst on the LCD-sreen.

My goal for this week is building and testing my hardware. Next week I want to write a programm with a menu to controll the TV-Tuner. The third week I go search on the attic to some nice old computer’s and game console’s and the last week I want to test these device’s and program the setting’s for these device’s  into the Arduino-Nano.
